Physiotherapy Treatment Of Hip Pain
Trochanteric bursitis and gluteal tendonitis are the most common soft tissue lesions around the hip. The other cause of hip pain is Osteoarthritis of the weight bearing joint in the elderly person. Tendonitis (inflammation) and bursitis usually occur as an overuse sporting injury involving extensive running. A friction inflammation occurs over the tendon insertion or the fluid filled sac (bursa) ruptures.
How is HIP PAIN treated by Physiotherapists
The physiotherapy management involves rest from the provoking activities. Physical treatment includes electrotherapy modalities, deep tissue massage, passive stretching techniques and strengthening the hip stabilisers. A cross training program will be designed by the physiotherapist and the possibility of a cortisone injection organised. Ice packs are also recommended.
